The City Council held a voice vote on Resolution 438, which recognizes Landing Day in the second week of September annually to commemorate the arrival of the first Jewish community in New Amsterdam in 1654.

The resolution also celebrates the continuing importance of the Jewish community in New York City. The resolution passed with a majority of 'Aye' votes.
