Council Member Lynn C. Schulman informs the attendees about a bill she introduced last year to educate students in schools about pet ownership and animals. She mentions this in the context of a previous hearing about guinea pigs, where it was revealed that guinea pigs are not suitable classroom pets.

  • The bill aims to address issues like teachers bringing guinea pigs into schools, which can be harmful to the animals.
  • Schulman expresses that she needs to follow up on the bill's status and may ask for assistance.
  • She emphasizes the importance of this educational initiative.

I appreciate that.
3:48:46
I just wanna wait before you go.

I wanted to let everyone know that I did introduce a bill last year to educate students in school about pet ownership and animals and all of that because when we had the guinea pig hearing and heard about, like, getting pigs are not the kind of animals to have as pets.
3:49:06
It's a whole long story that if you saw some of the testimony, you'd know why.
3:49:10
But at any rate, teachers would bring guinea pigs into the school, which terrifies them.
3:49:16
They they they die from being touched and all kinds of stuff at any rate.
3:49:22
I put in a bill, and I have to take a look and see where it is.
3:49:25
So we have to push it, and I may ask for some assistance there, but I'll let folks know.
3:49:30
So I just wanted you to know that I that that was done because I think it's so important.
