Council Member Eric Dinowitz asks the students about their personal involvement in CUNY-led activities beyond what they've already mentioned. Junior E Andrews responds, stating he hasn't been personally involved but would like to be, and then discusses issues of student retention and the need for free MetroCards.
- Andrews mentions that USS has pushed for the free MetroCard initiative
- He expresses that CUNY itself hasn't invested enough in urban schools and fostering freshman retention
- The discussion highlights the importance of transportation and food security for student retention

Have any of the 3 of you are involved in CUNY?
1:52:14
Have you been personally if you could talk a little more maybe, but personally involved with any of the CUNY lead activities in addition to maybe the the table you did, but things that are spearheaded by the CUNY faculty.
1:52:26
Any other involvement you wanna talk about?
Junior E Andrews
1:52:33
Personally, myself, no.
1:52:37
I would like to be part of that if that is if it's on the table, definitely.
1:52:41
The closest one that's been I've seen is basically what happens on the campus.
1:52:46
But when we go to USS Meeting, We talk about stuff concerning Quni, but in terms of the broader prospect of it, I don't see it.
1:52:54
And secondly, I would like to just echo sentiments on the metro card, free metro card.
1:53:01
One of the things that is happening in the campus right now freshmen are coming in, but by sophomore, they drop out.
1:53:09
So the retaining rate is low because of 2 reasons: transportation and food insecurity.
1:53:17
And so far, the USS has done an excellent job, Trevor chairman, madam.
1:53:24
Oh, yeah.
1:53:25
I believe USS, who has pushed the initiative of free Metrocard.
1:53:29
But in terms of CUNY itself.
1:53:31
I think CUNY itself as an educated body has not invested enough in the urban schools and in a project to foster freshman coming in to stay in the different colleges.
