Council Member Brewer inquires about the Sheriff's Office's coordination with other agencies regarding illegal cannabis operations, particularly in cases where illegal dwellings are discovered. Sheriff Miranda explains their process for notifying relevant departments when violations are found.
- The Sheriff's Office notifies the Buildings Department, Fire Department, and other relevant agencies when violations are discovered
- There is no public-facing system to track these notifications and follow-ups
- The process of notifying other agencies is part of their normal procedure, but the information is not typically shared with the public

Okay.

I wanna thank you because last night last month, thanks to you, we went to an Amsterdam Avenue, illegal operation, and there was a secret door that led to an illegal dwelling.

And we know that people were living there in with water and swallow.
0:26:17
It was dangerous full of cold violations.
0:26:21
Housing, building, and fire.
0:26:23
And I wanted to know, did your office do any updates with DOB, HPD, and the fire department for that particular site or maybe other sites that have similar situations?
0:26:33
How do you coordinate with other agencies?
Anthony Miranda

On on a regular basis, if we go into a location and find these type of violations, we would notify the billings department, well, the fire department depending on the the gravity of the situation.

So it is part of our normal process.

Okay.

But you do have any tracing of having done that where you've been able to notice so that the community knows that that particular or any site has follow-up, how does the public know that you're doing that?
Anthony Miranda

I don't think that information is shared with the public in terms of all the notifications to other agencies.
