Council Member Brewer inquires about how Operation Padlock to Protect impacts other Sheriff's Office responsibilities, particularly electronic monitoring. Sheriff Miranda explains that while resources are stretched, they maintain operations across all required areas.

  • The Sheriff's Office has personnel assigned to the electronic monitoring program
  • Other responsibilities include orders of protection, IRPOs, ghost vehicle enforcement, and more
  • While cannabis enforcement takes significant resources, the office maintains all required operations

Okay.
0:41:14
The MMR Merus Management report, as you know, was released yesterday.
0:41:18
It doesn't include electronic monitoring of individuals released on bail.
0:41:24
As a service performed by the sheriff's office, but I think that you do.
0:41:28
You do it.
0:41:29
Can you share an example of how the all hands on deck nature of operation padlock to protect?
0:41:38
I have to say perhaps negatively impacts electric monitoring or other things that you're doing because you don't have enough sheriffs to be able to do all this work.
0:41:46
So can you comment on that?
Anthony Miranda

I thank you for the question.
0:41:50
As always, any any agency preparing for you would always say that we also always would like more staff, more personnel.
0:41:58
The electronic management program has a personnel assigned to it that is operational.
0:42:02
We are at the maximizing the responsiveness to electronic monitoring.
0:42:07
As you indicated, we have a host of other responsibilities, not only the electronic monitoring, but orders of protection, the IRPOs, the Turbos, the the ghost vehicle enforcement program that we also do there are a number of other responsibilities to share us offers.
0:42:23
So it's not just cannabis enforcement, but today, again, we can focus on cannabis enforcement.
0:42:28
It does take a number of our resources, but we are able to maintain the operations that we are required to operate.
Gale A. Brewer
0:42:34
Okay.
0:42:34
I mean, others may feel differently about that, as you know.
Anthony Miranda
0:42:36
Absolutely.
