Environmental considerations and view impact of 701 West 135th Street

The proposed building is designed to minimize its impact on views from Riverside Drive and surrounding areas. Most of the structure will be below the height of Riverside Drive, with only two small bulkheads exceeding this height.
- Building height mostly below Riverside Drive level
- Two small bulkheads on the roof, potentially made translucent
- Minimal impact on views due to existing obstructions (water treatment plant)
- Dense tree coverage in the area further obscures the building from view
- Renderings show limited visual impact from various viewpoints

As you can see from this cross section, which does include a the bulkhead, which the building is located below the Riverside Drive, and this is to minimize the impact on pedestrians on Riverside Drive and homeowners on Riverside Drive.

I also passed out a plan that shows where the bulkhead is located.

The conservancy who issued a letter in conjunction with the community board's approval, believe that the bulkhead would encapsulate the entire area.

However, the bulkhead is only in two small areas.

It can also be made translucent So if needed, can be seen through without obstructing views, but there's just two small areas where the bulkhead will be located.

Otherwise, the site is a three sixty three foot long site, which will be located below the height of Riverside Drive.

As you can see on the right side is existing condition, and already the view is obstructed by the water treatment plant.

And on the left side are proposed renderings, so the impact is minimal as you could see.

Also, this area is densely populated by trees on the left side is a rendering, but on the right side is a picture taken from November with no leaves on the trees.

And you can see the it there is the area is is completely surrounded by trees.

And as you can see, If you're walking on Riverside Drive, the area as you walk north is completely obstructed by trees when there's full foliage.
