Council Member Abreu raises concerns about potential flooding risks at the site, given its proximity to water and lower elevation. The panel outlines their flood mitigation strategies.

  • The site is in two flood zones: X and E
  • The first floor will be raised to 2 feet 7 inches above grade
  • Wet floodproofing will be implemented in residential areas
  • Dry floodproofing will be used in commercial areas
  • Mechanical and electrical equipment will be raised an additional 2 feet above the first floor level

Can you speak to what potential risk of flooding there could be or what your mitigation plan would be if it's a likely site given it's placed near the water and it's lower it's also lower play it's placed in a lower level.
Kieran Meehan
0:47:16
Yeah.
0:47:16
Yeah.

Kieran Esteboy architecture.

Yeah.

We're in two foot zones, an x and e, and we basically raised the first floor to two foot 7, and we're gonna do wet floodproofing in the residential area.
0:47:30
And dry floodproofing at the commercial area and also take that into our site design.
Shaun Abreu
0:47:36
So you've accounted for flooding as an issue.
Kieran Meehan
0:47:38
Yeah.
0:47:40
Yeah.
0:47:40
We also raised the, like, mechanical electrical boxes to another 2 feet above that two foot 7.
