NYCHA maintains low eviction rates compared to other public housing authorities and the citywide average. Eviction is used as a last resort after exhausting all other options to resolve tenant issues.
- Only 2 evictions in 2022, 58 in 2023, and 174 as of September 1, 2024
- Eviction rate of 0.12% in the 2024 fiscal year, down from 0.3% in 2019
- Majority of evictions involve high arrears, averaging more than $15,000 in 2024
