Council Member Chris Banks inquires about the processes for rent arrears, recertification, and evictions in PACT developments. Gillian Connell from NYCHA's Real Estate Development Department explains the procedures.
- PACT partners engage with residents to understand the source of arrears as a first step.
- Recertification is an option if there's been a change in household income or composition.
- Residents can visit management offices to work with staff on interim recertifications to adjust their rent accordingly.
- The process aims to help residents address rent arrears through understanding their specific situations.

Okay.

And now we're gonna move to pack developments and rent a raise.

Even though we touched on that at some of the early questioning, I just wonder what is the process for rent a raise and conservative recertification and evictions in the pack developments, and are the development partners solely responsible for tenants outreach and coordination around that risk.

Great.

So you're asking a little bit about recertifications?
Chris Banks
0:58:47
Correct.
Gillian Connell

Yes.

So engaging with residents to understand sort of the source of what's causing them to be in arrears is an important first step that the part the partners take.

And one of the options that they can pursue is a recertification, you know, if that's appropriate, if there's been a change to their household's income or if there's been a change to their household's income or if there's been a change to their household composition.

They're able to come into the management offices and work with staff there to do an interim recertification that would help adjust their rent accordingly.
