Council Member Restler inquires about the cost and tracking of water bottle filling stations in city-owned and leased facilities. Deputy Commissioner Ringelheim provides information on costs and current tracking practices.

  • The cost of water bottle filling stations is clarified to be $3,000 to $5,000 each
  • DCAS tracks water fountains in their managed buildings, but most are not water bottle filling stations
  • Tracking for other agencies or facilities outside the 55 DCAS-managed buildings is unclear

And then wanted to also ask on the water filling.
1:44:14
Do you track Well, I guess I was surprised by could you just say again, is 3 to $500,000?
1:44:19
Was that the right number?
Laura Ringelheim
1:44:20
3 to 5000.
Lincoln Restler
1:44:22
3 to 5000.
1:44:22
Oh, jeez.
1:44:23
I was really freaked out for a second there.
1:44:25
3 to 5000.
1:44:25
Okay.
1:44:26
Great.
1:44:26
That's much more manageable.
1:44:27
Some.
1:44:29
So do we track which city owned and city leased facilities currently have water bottle filling stations?
1:44:37
Like, do we keep good data on that?
Laura Ringelheim
1:44:39
So for our buildings, I'm not sure for other agencies or what they might track anything outside the 55.
1:44:46
We do track where we have water fountains, but we don't have in general, with the exception of, like, tenant spaces, we don't have those as water bottle filling stations.
