- Many non-public schools rely on volunteers or limited staff for security, unlike public schools with dedicated school safety officers.
- The speaker argues it's the government's responsibility to provide security for all students in New York City, not just those in public schools.

Our school personally experienced issues after the October 7th incident, where several of our students were accosted outside the school.
3:18:54
And with the ongoing situation overseas, we're fearful that more situations may happen going forward.

Now the public schools have school safety.
3:19:05
We have to either dig deep and ask for parents contributions to provide security.
3:19:12
Many of our schools, the security that we have, or grandparents, or stay at home moms, or sometimes elderly grandparents that will stay and work as security.
3:19:24
My school in particular, we only have 6 male members in the building.
3:19:29
The rest of the staff are all women.
3:19:31
God forbid if something were to happen, we need that assistance.
3:19:35
And I'm sure my other fellow administrators feel the same.
3:19:41
We feel that the government it it's the government's responsibility to provide the students of the city of New York with security.
3:19:49
It's adamant.
3:19:50
We should not wait until some devastating situation happens And then in hindsight, we say, oh, we should have done that.
3:19:57
Let's do it now.
3:19:58
We worked hard to get Albany to expand the budget, and now you have the money.
