In terms of the database, how would you ensure that it's updated in real time?
Carlos Ortiz
0:09:15
Well, I think that's a that's a real concern that we would have.
0:09:19
No.
0:09:19
I think that the law has built in.
0:09:22
The proposed law has built in some partnership with OCME, the office of a chief medical examiner.
0:09:28
Although I know they have concerns about what data they have accessible to them and also and privacy concerns.
0:09:33
But realistically, we are not we're not really we're not situated to take in this data.
0:09:39
We're not currently doing that.
0:09:41
I know there are requirements right now in the proposed law about employers sending this into.
0:09:47
But I think, again, this is this is not something that we feel situated to be performing.
0:09:51
There are other agencies in the public health space that that already get this information.
0:09:55
And I think
Julie Menin
0:09:56
those those other agencies already receiving this information, then why can't DCWP serve as a conduit to gather the information and then make it publicly available.
0:10:06
Well, I think if it's
Carlos Ortiz
0:10:07
a question of being able to disseminate information, be a partner with our agencies who are the leaders and that type of information, I think we're always ready to be involved in that space.
0:10:16
I think I'm more concerned about creating any unnecessary redundant layer on data collection, perhaps, original data collection or anything that's duplicative.
0:10:24
I think we wanna make sure we're efficient.
0:10:26
Ultimately, you know, we're a very small agency.
0:10:29
But I think the way we've been successful as as you saw my testimony collecting or helping deliver almost a $1,000,000,000 to New Yorkers in just the past few years.
0:10:37
The way we've been successful is by being able to really strategically deploy our resources now.
0:10:41
And for that reason, I think the more we move out of a scope that we're currently in, I I would be concerned about being able to fulfill that mandate
