Council Member Amanda Farías requests information from the New York Taxi Workers Alliance about driver deactivations, including the number of people served, ratios of deactivations to lockouts and waitlists, and patterns of reactivation and subsequent deactivation. Bhairavi Desai provides some initial information and agrees to follow up with more detailed data.

  • Farías asks for year-by-year data on people served and ratios of different issues
  • Desai estimates over 2000 drivers served but doesn't have exact numbers on hand
  • Discussion highlights the need for more detailed data to understand the frequency and patterns of deactivations

I just wanted a better understanding of last year's data if you have it.
1:04:18
How many people did you folks serve in terms of deactivations?
1:04:23
And then I guess the follow-up I have on that is what's the ratio breakdown of deactivations, lockouts, and focus on wait lists?
Bhairavi Desai
1:04:30
Sure.
1:04:31
So in terms of the first question, Council member, I the exact number I don't have with me, but it would have been I mean, well, over 2000 drivers that we would have spoke served and drivers that we've done intakes for.
1:04:47
I know that the vast majority of them even if they were reactivated, you know, it was for a short period of time before they were deactivated again.
1:04:56
But we are happy to follow-up and put that in our written comment.
Amanda Farías
1:05:00
Yeah.
1:05:00
I'd like to definitely get the follow-up data on the amount of people you're serving year by year and what is the ratio divided between people coming to you with deactivations versus lockouts versus the wait lists?
1:05:13
And then if you haven't already, I would I I have an expectation to also know the average ratio of people letting you know that they've been deactivated today, but 3 days later, a week later, however long is or reactivated today, and then x amount of days later deactivated.
1:05:30
That's helpful for us get a better understanding of how frequent it's having.
1:05:35
It's happening.
1:05:37
And in that amount of time, it helps us have conversations between all of you and with the agency.
