Ibrahim Zuri, a member of NY Taxi Workers Alliance (TWA) and driver for Uber and Lyft, shared his experience of being deactivated by Uber in 2019. He described the negative impact this had on his ability to provide for his family and the circumstances that led to his deactivation.

  • Zuri was deactivated following an incident where he had a conversation with another driver who was blocking his path, which was recorded by a passenger and sent to Uber.
  • The deactivation occurred 6 months after the incident, and Zuri's attempts to resolve the issue through Uber's office and the Independent Drivers Guild (IDG) were unsuccessful.
  • His testimony was cut short, and he was asked to submit the rest in writing.
