Norbu T. Choezung, former president of the Tibetan Community of New York & New Jersey, testifies in support of Intro 100, which would make Losar (Tibetan New Year) a holiday for alternate side parking. He emphasizes the importance of this bill for the Himalayan Buddhist community in New York City.
- New York City is home to over 6,000 Buddhists from Tibet, Nepal, India, Bhutan, and other countries
- This would be the first alternate side parking holiday specific to Buddhists and people from Himalayan regions
- The bill would allow the community to celebrate their religious holiday with family and friends, similar to other communities celebrating Christmas or Hanukkah

Good afternoon, and thank you, Chairman, Selena Brooks Pereras, and members of the Transportation Committee My name is Norbert Chisholm Chisholm, and I'm Durban who live in New York.

I'm here to testify in support of the introduction, 100 from council member, Julie Wang, to make Loza or to venue new year, a holiday for alternate side parking.

This bill is important to me for the following reason.

Neo is home to over 6000 Buddhist from Tibet, Nepal, India, Bhutan, and other country.

In addition to the practical benefit of not requiring us to move our cars on this important Buddhist holiday, all New Yorkers need to see themselves represented in the civic fabric and laws of the RCD.

This would be the 1st and only alternate site parking holiday that is specific to Buddhist and the people from across the Himalayan regions.

In addition to those 60,000 Himalayan Buddhist Americans, the city of New York also welcomed many Buddhist communities from the different states of America and Canada by driving to celebrate the given New York Lhasa with the families and friends in New York.

Compared with other immigrants, the immigrant from Himalayan communities from Tibet, India, and Nepal are quite new and are growing rapidly every year.
