Samsa Raman, an Uber driver for over 10 years, testified about his recent account deactivation due to alleged unsafe driving. He expressed frustration with Uber's lack of specific information about the incidents and the lengthy appeal process, which could take up to a year.
- Raman highlighted the challenges drivers face with false reports from riders, including requests for illegal actions like extra passengers or off-app rides.
- He emphasized the need for Uber to provide more time and opportunity for drivers to defend themselves against accusations.
- The testimony underscores the issues addressed in Intro 276, which aims to regulate driver deactivations in high-volume for-hire vehicle services.
Samsa Raman

you.
2:56:21
Good afternoon.
2:56:22
My name is Samsung Roman.
2:56:24
I've been an Uber driver for more than 10 years now.
2:56:28
And I never had an issue with Uber.
2:56:32
But recently, this this month on 24th, I received a notice from Uber that my account is deactivated.
2:56:41
They claim that I did unsafe driving.
2:56:44
So in the last 10 years, I never had any issue.
2:56:48
And right now, they considered me as the unsafe drivers, and they just provided me with 2 dates.
2:56:56
Last month on 2nd and this month on 15th.
2:56:59
They said I did unsubdriving, but they're not disclosing the exact date and time because I do have dashcam in my car.
2:57:09
So if they don't give me the exact date and time, how can I depend myself?
2:57:14
So I went to the Uber office twice, but they couldn't really help me out.
2:57:18
They send me to IDZ.
2:57:20
I went to them.
2:57:21
And they said they submitted an application for appeal, but they told me that I get away at at least 3 to yeah.
2:57:28
3 months to a up to a year to get a decision on my appeal.
2:57:36
And most of my writers are happy with me.
2:57:39
I I get tapes, but sometimes I do get some writers that always complain.
2:57:44
Right?
2:57:45
Tell me to make neutrons, which are illegal, then they do make false report.
2:57:50
Some riders, they ask me to cancel the trips.
2:57:53
And so they could pay me cash, which is illegal.
2:57:56
I don't do that.
2:57:57
They make a false report.
2:58:00
Sometimes I get so many writers.
2:58:02
I'm I'm allowed to take only 4 writers, up to 4 writers.
2:58:06
But when I don't take more than 4 writers, then if I log into my car, they make policy report.
2:58:12
So there are just too many policy reports coming in from riders.
2:58:16
And Uber must give us considerable time so we could submit the documents.
