Richard Reid, a resident of 640 Riverside Drive, testifies about the unintended consequences of the 3rd party transfer program on tenants. He highlights that while the program improves housing conditions, it also results in significant rent increases that make apartments unaffordable for existing tenants.

  • Reid emphasizes that rents are being doubled and tripled at his residence due to the 3rd party transfer program.
  • He acknowledges that the housing stock has been improved but argues that the situation is untenable for tenants who can no longer afford their apartments.
  • Reid calls for action to address this issue, suggesting that the program's impact on affordability needs to be reconsidered.

Oh, hi.
3:11:07
Good afternoon.
3:11:09
My name is Richard Reid.
3:11:11
My family resides at 640 Riverside Drive.
3:11:15
I would like to address I've heard a lot of things about taxes, violations, stabilization, living conditions, And I think that the housing stock really needs to be addressed in terms of having it be decent for citizens.
3:11:34
My problem is through the through the 3rd party transfer program, tenants end up with a situation where their rents are being doubled and tripled at 64640 Riverside Drive.
3:11:50
That is the case.
3:11:52
So the housing stock has been improved, but the tenants can't afford the apartments anymore.
3:12:01
So that's what I would like to address and and I hope that something can be done about that situation because it's really untenable.
