Expansion of public transit options for students

The Department of Education has collaborated with the MTA and EDC to expand public transit options for students, including the introduction of Student OmniCards and discounted ferry codes.
- Over 500,000 Student OmniCards have been distributed, allowing eligible students up to 4 taps per day, 365 days a year
- Student public transit trips have increased by 36% compared to the previous year, totaling 2,500,000 trips
- Discounted ferry codes have been secured for high school students across the city, thanks to collaboration with the City Council and EDC

We are excited to announce that we've worked with the MTA to roll out student OmniCards, which let eligible students use up to 4 taps each day 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

We provide over 500,000 student Omni passes, and our students have taken 2,500,000 public transit trips thus far this year a 36% increase over the same time frame last year.
