Council Member Rita Joseph inquires about the impact of including charter and public school students on the same bus routes. Glenn Risbrook explains that the type of school does not affect routing or ride times.
- Routing is based on logistics and distance between school and student's home, regardless of school type
- General education bus rides typically last between 36-40 minutes due to in-district routing
- Current software for special education transportation lacks the ability to calculate precise ride times
- New software (Via) will be implemented to improve ride time calculations for special education routes

So does including charter school and public school students on the same route affects the right time?
Glenn Risbrook
0:34:55
Thank you for the question.
0:34:57
No, it doesn't share.
0:34:58
Schools, no matter what type of school it is, it's routed completely the same.
0:35:04
It's it's based on logistics and the distance between the school and the students home.
Rita Joseph

So for instance, does it significantly elongate student's school ride because of the different routes.
0:35:19
We talked about earlier about some of the routes hour a half, some of 2 hours.
0:35:24
What is the longest a student had ever stayed on a school bus?
Glenn Risbrook
0:35:28
I I I don't have that information.
0:35:30
How what the longest would be?
Rita Joseph
0:35:32
You'll get that back to me.
Glenn Risbrook
0:35:33
I I certainly will.
Rita Joseph
0:35:34
Yeah.
0:35:34
Because I wanted to know what's the average ride for students between public schools and charter schools, but you're telling you're telling me on the record that the same.
Glenn Risbrook
0:35:42
It it would be the same.
0:35:43
Wouldn't it wouldn't matter what school it is.
0:35:45
But I will just add this about the reason why we are upgrading our software for our general ed students we are able to actually calculate the time because they actually have time parameters within the program, and our generalist in its losing traverse between 3640 minutes is usually the length of time because it's industry.
0:36:08
Our current school software does not have that actual ability at this point.
0:36:13
So that will come with the migration into Via.
