- A scenario is presented of a student with a 2-hour bus ride from Brooklyn to Manhattan
- The guideline for inter-borough transportation is to not exceed 120 minutes
- There's discussion about conflicts between actual ride times and IEP mandates for limited travel time
- Risbrook acknowledges that they strive to meet IEP mandates but may not always succeed due to traffic patterns and other reasons

I have a quick scenario for you.
0:26:13
Students live in Brooklyn.
0:26:14
The going to school in Manhattan has to be on the bus by 6, but gets to school every day at 8:20.
0:26:21
What's the what's the problem?
0:26:23
That's a 2 hour ride.
0:26:25
If the could could get on public transportation, it wouldn't take them 2 hours.
0:26:30
Walk us through that process.
Glenn Risbrook
0:26:31
Well, yes.
0:26:33
Understandably that that is a long ride.
0:26:36
But, of course, the the buses have to traverse through the the streets, pick up other students along the way, And and usually, we try to keep interbarrel transportation as you're mentioning, 22 hours.
0:26:48
That's our guideline, but depending upon traffic conditions and other reasons, sometimes that route will go a little longer than that.
0:26:56
But the guide is internal transportation will not exceed 120 minutes.
Rita Joseph
0:27:01
2 hours.
0:27:02
But yet on the child's IEP, they're mandated to be on that bus just for an hour.
0:27:06
How does that work?
Glenn Risbrook
0:27:07
Well, if if the if the students is traversing from Brooklyn to Manhattan, a lot of times that we we do our best to try to meet that as much as possible what's in the IEP.
0:27:18
But sometimes we find that because of traffic patterns and other and other reasons, we may not always meet that, but we do strive to meet what the IEP mandates say.
Rita Joseph
0:27:28
As
Glenn Risbrook
0:27:28
as we go further, we we will talk about limited time travel and and work.
0:27:32
Yeah.
Rita Joseph
0:27:32
Because limited time on the IEP, these are legally mandated documents we always discuss.
0:27:39
Understood.
0:27:40
Yeah.
0:27:40
So we we gotta definitely work on that.
0:27:42
Is there a maximum length for route in terms of time and distance?
