The presentation highlights the significant population growth in Borough Park over the past 40 years and the corresponding lack of housing development to meet demand. The project aims to address the longstanding community need for additional housing in the area.

  • Borough Park has experienced substantial population growth over 40 years
  • Housing development has not kept pace with demand, leading to overcrowding
  • The rail cut site has been viewed as a potential solution to housing needs for decades

So the the three things that I wanted to mention are that 1, the population of Burrow Park has grown at a tremendous rate in the last 40 years.

2, the amount of new housing built has not kept up with the demand.

It's a very overcrowded neighborhood, one of the most overcrowded outside of Manhattan because there simply wasn't a lot of development sites and and only a handful of apartment buildings have been built.

And 3 was that for that entire 40 year period, people have been looking at this rail cut and trying to figure out if there was a way that it could be put to use to meet the housing needs of the city.
0:15:41
No one was able to come up with a way to do that.
0:15:44
That was viable and, quite frankly, approvable until our client set their mind to figuring out a solution in the in the best interest of the community, and they are from the community and and know it very well.
