I think.
5:00:08
Okay.
5:00:08
My name is Carol Hamilton.
5:00:11
I work in the thank you.
5:00:15
I am a hotel worker in New York City, and my unit make sure that I get to feel safe working.
5:00:24
Why I want you guys to vote, yes, for the Hotel Safe Act?
5:00:29
I think about 4 years ago, I read this story about this lady who she's a hotel employee, a housekeeper, and she had a husband that is disabled.
5:00:40
So on her lunch break, she would leave to go have lunch with them.
5:00:44
And that was the only reason why they found out that she was hurt by a guest and locked in the closet in the hotel.
5:00:52
Because when she did not turn up for the lunch break, he called the job, and then they went to the classroom.
5:00:57
She was in, saw the blood, and so they were able to appear in the guy and get him.
5:01:05
She did not make it because the injuries were so severe.
5:01:08
So for me, you know, having safety, knowing that And and I was listening early.
5:01:16
I'm sorry.
5:01:16
I was listening early about where the other folks were saying that this will cause small businesses to, you know, run into problems and stuff.
5:01:27
Without workers, nothing happened because we all, you know, we're a card.
5:01:31
We all play a part in what happens.
5:01:33
So making sure and ensuring that the workers are safe, that everybody feels, this is a good thing, and, you know, we have the confidence to know that we get home, to our family works.
5:01:44
Just it it just works.
5:01:46
And sometimes when a family member gets hurt, on the job, it's not just the, you know, if you're the breadwinner, the the one in charge, the one who takes care of everything, then it's not just you who have had a loss.
5:02:00
It's an entire community, an entire family.
5:02:03
So, you know, this is sometimes devastating, sometimes it's hard.
5:02:07
So I I I want you guys to vote, yes, for the Hotel Safe Act.
5:02:12
Thank you.
