Pathways to intake for domestic violence shelters

The speaker outlines three main pathways for intake into the domestic violence shelter system in New York City.
- Pathway 1: Through the Safe Horizon hotline
- Survivors can connect with advocates for services, counseling, and information
- Support includes crisis counseling, safety planning, and assistance finding DV shelters
- Pathway 2: Through the No Violence Again (NOVA) screening at DHS intake centers
- Screenings conducted at Prevention Assistance and Temporary Housing (PATH) center
- Also available at Adult Family Intake Center (AFIC) and Single Intake Center
- Pathway 3: Through community-based referrals
- Can include local precincts, neighborhood hospitals, Family Justice Centers
- DV non-residential community providers or other social service providers can also refer
