Council Member Diana Ayala inquires about the timeline for resuming the streamlined transition process between DV and DHS shelters. The administration aims to resume this process by the end of calendar year 2024. Additionally, the continuity of rental assistance eligibility when transferring from DV to DHS shelters is discussed.

  • The streamlined transition process is expected to resume by the end of calendar year 2024
  • When families or individuals transfer from DV shelters to DHS, their eligibility for rental assistance vouchers is maintained
  • DHS will generate a new shopping letter for transferred clients, eliminating the need for a full reapplication process

Okay.

So and and that resumes how quick how soon how how soon does it resume the streamlining process?

We're hoping that it may be zoomed by before the end of calendar year 24.

Okay.

And deputy speaker, I I would also add that one of the one of the collaborations we work with on with DHS's ensuring when a family or or individual transfers from a DV shelter over to DHS, their eligibility for a rental assistance voucher housing shopping letter goes with them.
1:13:25
So if they were deemed eligible when they get to DHS, DHS will generate a new shopping letter for them.
1:13:32
So there's no need to do the entire reapplication process for them.
1:13:35
So that's another mechanism for us to, you know, streamline the process a little and make it less onerous for the transfer between DB shelters and DHS shelters.
