Council Member Lynn C. Schulman introduces a new bill, Intro 1085, aimed at combating illegal cannabis businesses by creating a public watch list for bad actors and landlords. This follows previous legislation holding landlords accountable for knowingly renting to illegal cannabis operations.
- The watch list is compared to the "bad landlords list" from the public advocate's office
- Schulman suggests public exposure might yield positive results in curbing illegal operations
- She urges colleagues to consider co-sponsoring the bill

This council has passed a number of bills to help get rid of illegal weed shops, including my legislation to hold landlords liable for knowingly renting to illegal cannabis businesses.

However, these illegal businesses and bad actor landlords and many of them have been finding ways to circumvent our current laws.

So today, I'm introducing intro 1085 to create a watch list, much like the bad landlords list put out by the public advocates office maybe by publicizing and embarrassing these bad actors, it will have some positive results.

I urge my colleagues to please consider signing on to this bill.
