Council Member Pierina Ana Sanchez asks Melissa Barbour to clarify which professionals, besides licensed master plumbers, would be qualified to conduct radiator inspections as required by Intro 925. Melissa Barbour provides examples of qualified professionals and explains the current licensing situation.
- Mechanical contractors, although not licensed by the Department of Building, are experienced with heating systems
- Oil burner license holders and stationary engineers are also mentioned as potential qualified professionals
- Barbour emphasizes that there's a larger pool of well-vetted individuals knowledgeable about steam heating systems

I'm sorry.
2:04:33
Just a clarifying question, Melissa.
2:04:35
You said there there are other professionals that would be qualified to conduct the reviews as required in 925.
2:04:41
Could you share who those are?
Melissa Barbour
2:04:44
Sure.
2:04:44
I mean, the mechanical contractors association, our contractors, mechanical contracting is one of the the steepening trade.
2:04:52
We're not licensed by the Department of Building.
2:04:54
So there's no mechanical contractor license.
2:04:56
However, the majority of our members perform work on heating systems, and so that you know, and have multiple years experience insurance, all of those what I would consider someone qualified and very knowledgeable about steam heating, the oil burner license, but also probably those individuals.
2:05:18
Stationary engineers.
2:05:19
There's so I think there's a a larger universe of people that are very well vetted to look at steam heating systems.
Pierina Ana Sanchez
