Council Member Sanchez asks the family about their understanding of what went wrong with the radiator. Alexander Kuravsky shares their findings from independent research and consultations with professionals.

  • The family had to do much of their own research to understand the issue
  • They consulted with the FDNY fire marshal and master plumbers
  • The incident was deemed '1000% preventable' if proper inspections had been conducted

And one more question for me, and if my colleagues have questions, please let me know.
1:36:34
What what is your understanding today of what happened with the radiator?
1:36:38
Has did the fire department or the buildings department or anyone tell you what was wrong with the radiator?
Alexander Kuravsky
1:36:45
We've had to do a lot of our own research.
1:36:48
We've had to reach out to the FDNY fire marshal We've reached out to the chief inspector, I believe.
1:36:56
And we've been doing a lot of hard work trying to figure out what exactly went wrong, but we do know that it was a complete mount function that that did not give off any prior red flags.
1:37:13
And we we also have spoken to 2 different master plumbers that told us that if it would have been inspected, that they would have noticed an issue with the pipes and the valve.
1:37:26
So this was a 1000% preventable incident.
