My name is Alyssa Mayopinonia.

I am here this evening speaking as we registered New York State Architect as well as a live home resident of City Island in the Bronx.
11:55:20
It's easy to say that City Island has been happening in 2 different worlds.
11:55:24
City Island has put out mainly a residential community with a suburban way of life.
11:55:29
While the voting industry is not the same as it has been years ago, we could say our community is there with a very few places left in New York that holds a quaint, not a well suburban character.
11:55:40
It maintains the title of the seaport in the Bronx, and we would like to keep it that way.
11:55:45
The city of the s would open the doors for this to be destroyed.
11:55:48
City island as well as other special district areas needing abundance of special district zoning to prevent over development that our infrastructures, land, and public resources cannot physically sustain The city of yes would destroy the concept of 1 and 2 family zones and would turn low density areas into mini Manhattan.
11:56:07
The border lines of permitted zoning, increased and permitted bulk, as well as changes in housing types, would not work in such areas.
11:56:16
The city of the US is pushing more affordable housing with no promise of a foreign building.
11:56:20
Our building department takes weeks months for approvals, is understaffed as well as incorrectly trained to support these changes of spaces that would need to meet life and safety standards.
11:56:32
Deteriorated infrastructure exists and introducing such housing would not be sustainable.
11:56:41
These zoning codes paint a picture of harmony, but yet they are jeopardizing health, safety, and welfare of society.
11:56:48
Our communities should not have to suffer or sacrifice our character's safety and our neighborhoods due to the poor decisions made by our politicians.
11:56:57
Are we should be focusing on revitalizing our existing conditions of our community and truly fixing current infrastructure, bettering our schools, properly training our municipality departments, and reusing existing space, and not permitting development.
