was so sudden that I was called.
8:49:27
Give me one second here.
8:49:29
Okay.
8:49:29
Hi.
8:49:30
My name is Elaine Young, and I'm president of the West Cunningham Park Civic Association.
8:49:35
Representing over 5000 residents in Fresh Meadows Queens.
8:49:39
We are a low density community of mainly one family homes, and we say a resounding no to the city of yes.
8:49:48
In this community, we have worked long and hard to maintain a lower density, working closely with our community board and local elected officials in a back and forth dialogue that truly value community input.
8:50:01
The CDBS plans to eliminate this community input when it comes to zoning.
8:50:06
It removes Ulerp from committee boards and council members, eliminating any meaningful dialogue with the community.
8:50:14
I also have to say on behalf of the low density communities, in listening to testimonies, it is incredibly insulting to hear speaker and vilify low city areas.
8:50:25
They make up only 50% of New York City with implying or outright saying that low density areas of responsibility are responsible for the housing affordability crisis.
8:50:37
In the city's one size fits all plan, our communities are threatened.
8:50:41
We choose to live in a low density district, and that is our right.
8:50:46
City of Yes is a financial boon to developers in real estate interest.
8:50:51
Very few people I heard brought this up, but in light of the fact that mayor Adams, who has pushed this client heavily, under indictment for bribery and corruption.
8:51:00
It begs a question.
8:51:01
Is the mayor benefiting justice, developers, and real estate interests are?
8:51:05
It's something to think about.
8:51:07
In conclusion, the city, yes, must not go forward.
8:51:10
The West Cunningham Park Civic Association's 5000 residents will remember who voted in favor of this, and we will not vote for you in the future for whatever office you run for.
8:51:21
We advise you to listen the community and truly represent.
