Grace Marrero, a community advocate from the Bronx, strongly opposes the City of Yes proposal, arguing it will lead to displacement and is unaffordable for low-income residents and people of color.

She contends that the city faces an affordability crisis rather than a housing crisis and warns council members that voting for this proposal could result in them losing their positions.

  • Marrero believes the proposal will push residents further into Westchester County
  • She accuses council members who support the proposal of going against their oath of office and not representing their communities
  • Marrero criticizes developers and warns that the proposal benefits them at the expense of residents

8:58:10
This city of yes is not affordable.
8:58:12
The housing is not affordable.
8:58:14
It's going to displace.
8:58:16

8:58:31
We don't have a housing crisis like everybody wants to say.
8:58:34
It's an affordability crisis is what we have.
8:58:38
So unless you're gonna fix that portion, this city of yes is a city killer, and I'm just gonna say to the city council members, that whoever vote for this project, you will be primary, guaranteed you're you're out.
8:58:52
So enjoy your time in city council because you'll be primary and you'll be voted out We will make a mission.
8:58:59
This will be a mission of ours.
8:59:02
Through all the communities here, we're gonna make a mission to make sure each and everyone who votes yes gets out.
8:59:09
And then we're gonna revisit it when we have the right people in there.
8:59:12
You're not representing the re the communities.
8:59:15
You guys are should be brought up on charges of treason, whoever votes yes, because you are you are advocating your oath of office to protect and the constitution of the United States and this is what you're doing.
8:59:28
You're going against the people that you are supposed to be representing.
8:59:31
So enjoy your time while you can because if this city of Jess goes through, you guys are out, and then we're gonna revisit it.
8:59:39
And again, and the developers, they better think again.
8:59:42
And people who these young people that think it's a great idea.
8:59:44

8:59:53
They don't care about you.
8:59:55
They're they're getting money in their pocket.
