Sean Scott, a resident of Council District 1 and an 8-year renter in New York City, strongly supports all elements of the City of Yes for Housing Opportunity proposal. He believes the proposal will help address the housing crisis by creating more homes, which will lead to more New Yorkers, taxpayers, and housing choices.
- Scott has seen friends leave the city due to high housing costs
- He observes unhoused community members daily and links housing unaffordability to homelessness
- He expresses excitement about the proposal's potential to make a "small dent" in the housing crisis

Good evening, and thank you for taking comment.
11:15:31
My name is Sean Scott.
11:15:32
I'm a resident of Council District.
11:15:34
1 here, and I'm here only on behalf myself and as a renter and an 8 year resident of this amazing city.
11:15:42
I strongly support all elements of the city of yes for housing opportunity proposal.
11:15:47
Wanted to give two examples that I've experienced personally.
11:15:50
I've seen many friends leave the city that are priced out.
11:15:54
They move to the suburbs.
11:15:55
They move far away because it's just so expensive to live here.
11:15:58
I also see a lot of unhoused members of our community every day as I'm sure all of you do as well.
11:16:03
And I know the fact that housing, unaffordability, and scarcity lead to homelessness.
11:16:10
More homes mean more New Yorkers, more taxpayers, a newer housing stock, and more choice for everyone when looking for a place to live.
11:16:18
I'm super excited about the ability of this proposal to make a small dent in this massive housing crisis.
11:16:23
And I hope, as others have said, it will be approved with at least everything proposed.
11:16:28
It's time to legalize housing.
11:16:30
Thank you.
