Finally, another bill on the agenda was intro 900.
3:14:40
NRDC strongly supports this bill, which would require DP and other city agencies to install 500 drinking water fountains in public locations around the city.
3:14:49
This is legislation that would both saw it's a double win.
3:14:53
It would reduce the the use of throwaway plastic water bottles, which are an enormous environmental problem.
3:15:00
And at the same time provide high quality drinking water at no cost to consumers.
3:15:05
We heard the commissioner talk about the fact that perhaps it couldn't fit in their budget.
3:15:11
We disagree with that conclusion.
3:15:14
We also think that the parks department should be involved in this.
3:15:17
Maybe the place to start is having these locations, these water founts be replaced at entrances to the major parks around the city.
3:15:26
Because right now, most of those water fountains are not operative or can't be used or if you have a water bottle, you can't fill it up in those those old cement water fountains that have been in the playgrounds since Robert Moses built them.
3:15:38
But this is is something that would advance water quality protection, would get New Yorkers drinking, New York City water, would get rid of the millions and millions of plastic throwaway bottles.
3:15:51
It's a good bill, and and we hope that in one form or another, you can help advance it.
3:15:56
Sure.
3:15:56
Thank you.
3:15:57
Yeah.
3:15:57
You thank the council member
James F. Gennaro
3:15:59
of powers for introducing it.
3:16:01
Yeah.
3:16:01
He's he's he's a good guy.
3:16:03
He's a good guy.
3:16:04
And so and you and I gotta talk more along.
3:16:07
I I gotta move along about the whole fad thing.
3:16:10
I mean, this is you know, Josh, you should talk to Eric about that too because we've got a whole you know, we gotta put the fad.
3:16:19
Okay?
3:16:19
And you're not getting out of it.
3:16:21
Okay?
3:16:22
Thanks for your leadership.
3:16:23
It's great to have you.
3:16:24
