Now to today's topic, which is personal as a great meaning to me as the son of a veteran.
0:02:02
A recent study has shown that veterans returning to New York State over the past 5 years are more often reporting symptoms of depression and PTSD than veterans from earlier years.
0:02:15
About a quarter of returning veterans report dealing with depression.
0:02:20
And similarly, about a quarter are affected by post traumatic stress disorder.
0:02:26
So While approximately 1 third of these veterans are receiving some form of mental health care, another 20% have yet to receive the mental health services they need, whether due to an uncertainty about their effectiveness or simply not knowing where to access them.
