Council Member Linda Lee inquires about the curriculum and development of training programs for military cultural competency. Dr. Lauren D'Mello explains the collaborative approach to curriculum development.
- DVS partners with organizations involved in mental health and social service programs to develop training curriculum
- Expertise from various partners is incorporated into the training programs
- Specialized trainings are developed for different veteran populations, such as homeless veterans and those dealing with military sexual trauma

Okay.
0:58:13
And then in that same vein, where are you guys getting the curriculum from for the training programs?
0:58:18
Is that something that comes through the VA, or is it something you guys have developed if you could just speak to that a little bit.
0:58:24
And, also, you mentioned the act team because I know that for those who don't know, I know that there's so many outreach teams, some are with EMS, some are with DHMH, some are city, some are state level, some some are with the homeless services.
0:58:38
So it's very sort of separate but each have their own functions.
0:58:42
And I just wonder if you guys are all working with the different outreach teams that are going out there and trying to identify some of the homeless services and the folks that are out there that need further help.
Lauren D'Mello
0:58:55
Yeah.
0:58:55
So we partner with a lot of the organizations that involve themselves in mental health and social service programs, and we bring back their expertise, and that's how we develop programs.
0:59:04
They contribute their expertise in with their particular trailer population.
0:59:08
So homeless veterans, we took from them.
0:59:10
Military sexual trauma trainings, we pulled the best from that.
0:59:14
So I feel like we we work with our providers to provide the best training with their expertise.
