Collaboration between NYCA and NYPD on elder fraud issues

The NYC Department for the Aging (NYCA) and the New York Police Department (NYPD) have established a strong partnership to address elder fraud and related issues. This collaboration includes joint initiatives and programs aimed at supporting older adults who are victims of crime.
- The NYCA office of elder justice was established to assist victims of scams and other forms of elder abuse
- Crime against older adults has decreased across the five boroughs in the past year
- The Cabinet for Older New Yorkers has made advancements in public safety through partnership with NYPD
- Older Adult Liaison program has been established in every NYPD precinct and police service area

NYC aging office of elder justice was established to assist those who have experienced scammers as well as other forms of elder abuse and to let older adults know that they are not alone.

We are pleased to see that across a range of crime areas, crime against older adults of the five boroughs have tended down in the past year.

While there is still work to be done, we are pleased with the advancements we have made through the cabinet for older New Yorkers regarding public safety and our partnership with the New York police department.

One of the things that we're really proud of is this adult older adult liaisons, which are in every NYPD preset, as well as the 7 police service areas.

At the seventeen older adults, adult town halls we have hosted across the city with mayor Adams over the past year.

Our partnership with the NYPD has been instrumental in helping older adults access the services that they need when they are victims of a crime.

As you know, the older adult population of this city is growing exponentially, with more than 1,800,000 adults expected to live in the 5 boroughs by 2030.

And NYC Aging has expanded our programs and resources to actively address this issue.
