1:37:30
So I just I came in a little late, but I wanna thank everybody here.
1:37:34
I represent the 29th District, which is Forest Hills, Hugh Gardens, Richmond Hills, small piece of Rico Park, And so I had a question.
1:37:42
I think you might have covered a little bit of this.
1:37:45
So I was at a town hall with the mayor, with the commissioner a little while back, and he said that there was an elder there was a somebody for older adults liaison in every precinct.
1:37:57
Is that true?
Spiro Papavlasopoulos
1:37:59
Yes.
1:38:00
Yes.
Lynn C. Schulman
1:38:00
Okay.
1:38:01
So if you could do us the favor, at some point, send us the list of who they are because I don't even know for my precinct, to be honest.
1:38:09
So that we can let people know if they have an issue that who to ask for, that would be very helpful for us.
Spiro Papavlasopoulos
1:38:16
So we could I could definitely give you a list.
Yusef Salaam
1:38:17
You can
Lynn C. Schulman
1:38:18
give it you can give it to the carrier.
Spiro Papavlasopoulos
1:38:19
Sure.
1:38:19
And just so you know that we have an online system that's
Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez
1:38:23
open to
Spiro Papavlasopoulos
1:38:23
the public that has a a picture
Lynn C. Schulman
1:38:25
of those, that
Spiro Papavlasopoulos
1:38:26
Contact number, email, all listed on our site.
1:38:30
So whoever doesn't know, they could and and we like to advocate to go to the site because, you know, you might get someone who's in, you know, originally resides in Queens, but just visiting somewhere in Brooklyn and needs to walk into Brooklyn location for whatever reason.
1:38:47
They could actually get whoever that crime prevention is.
1:38:50
Officer is city wide.
1:38:52
Instead of No.
Lynn C. Schulman
1:38:52
Understood.
1:38:53
But in in my district, we have very active community precinct councils.
1:38:57
So when we go to the meetings, like to point out, hey.
1:39:00
Office is so and so if there's an issue, but you can also do the online and electronic and all.
Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez
1:39:06
Absolutely.
1:39:06
I wanna wax poetic the a little bit here.
1:39:09
Yes.
1:39:10
And these officers I mean, I've not seen this in in the many years that I've been in public service.
1:39:17
These officers are giving out phone numbers, emails.
1:39:20
Yes.
1:39:21
And so I I asked each and every and we will make it our effort because we've given it to all older adult centers, who's the community liaison in their area.
1:39:32
I we will do the same thing.
1:39:33
I'm sure both of us will do the same thing with every council member.
1:39:36
But we would ask you then to really engage with them Yes.
1:39:40
Because it is an incredible resource for the older adult, but also for the community as a whole.
1:39:46
But I've never seen that display of information, of who they are.
1:39:52
To the public, and it it is this program has really initiated that side.
Lynn C. Schulman
1:39:57
Yes.
1:39:57
And to to your point commissioner, I would like to also go and speak with them.
1:40:01
I'm very have a very good relationship with my precincts and the commands.
1:40:06
So
Spiro Papavlasopoulos
1:40:08
Absolutely.
1:40:08
So anything that you need from the crime prevention and and one thing that was not mentioned, the crime prevention division also offers free security surveys that
Yusef Salaam
1:40:17
Oh, really?
Spiro Papavlasopoulos
1:40:18
For residential, for house of worship, for any different establishment.
1:40:23
If you were a victim of a crime, or you just want your house or your resident, you have a trained police officer come to the actual house, identify certain vulnerabilities from cameras to lighting to windows.
1:40:36
We offer that for free.
1:40:37
We actually give a report and specifically for older adults.
1:40:41
So there's a lot of resources that I wanna make sure that everyone's aware that we offer.
Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez
1:40:46
No.
1:40:46
Last year, and last year, we started Lin, council member.
1:40:49
Last year, we started 8 old Duradao Clubs working with the police department to do active shooter training.
1:40:56
And so, like, it's constantly we're on what what's the next available service that we can offer that.
Lynn C. Schulman
1:41:02
I also just want to mention, I have cultural issues or challenges in my district.
1:41:06
I have a big Punjabi, big sick, Indian, all of that, and they're they're concerned about going to the officials or police or whatever.
1:41:17
So if we can put something together more than happy to host something around that, and I also have orthodox, a big orthodox population.
1:41:25
So the same
Spiro Papavlasopoulos
1:41:27
we will provide you the names of the crime prevention officers that's dedicated to that precinct.
1:41:31
But, please, I don't want you to think that that police officer at that crime that crime prevention officer at that precinct is the only
Lynn C. Schulman
1:41:38
person.
1:41:38
Understood.
Spiro Papavlasopoulos
1:41:39
So we have other other officers citywide that have the same background of cultural, even the language.
1:41:47
So if you need some a specific speaking officer or a specific dialect, we could arrange to have that officer there.
Lynn C. Schulman
1:41:54
That's great.
1:41:55
Thank you so much, and thank you for all that you do.
1:41:57
We have our our older population is continuing to grow.
1:42:02
And so that's something that's becoming more and more important.
1:42:05
So thank you.
1:42:07
Thank
