So with that, I'm not gonna ask you all if you need resources because I would say you're over resourced.
2:32:17
But what I do think is important is the allocation of those resources.
2:32:22
And so for that officer or in that precinct, I DON'T KNOW IF THAT OFFICER IS TAKING THAT WOMAN TO THE GROCERY STORE OR FOR SHOPPING EVERY SINGLE WEEK OR AS OFTEN AS SHE NEEDS IT.
2:32:32
MAYBE THEY Just DID IT THE ONE TIME OR TWICE OR WHATEVER.
2:32:35
BUT WOULD IT MAKE SENSE TO all reallocate or redistribute resources that you already have in the department to make a service like that more accessible?
2:32:45
Or do we need to, you know, resource the NYC Aging so that they can work with providers that might be able to provide some of those services.
Spiro Papavlasopoulos
2:32:56
Well, again, this is not something this is not a policy that the police department has in place.
2:33:00
I know.
Crystal Hudson
2:33:00
It's just people doing it out of the good news.
2:33:02
Exactly.
2:33:02
Exactly.
2:33:03
But I guess my point is, if there are a number of officers across the department across the city who are doing that out of the goodness of their hearts.
2:33:11
Maybe we should be thinking about allocating funding to organizations and nonprofits and agencies who could actually provide some of those services if it's a need that we're seeing within this population.
Josh Levin
2:33:24
That would be great.
2:33:25
Okay.
2:33:26
Something we can always have continually have continued conversations within something that we can advocate for.
2:33:31
I will say this.
2:33:32
Think the continued partnership is a lot of magic for this, but I'm Leary to talk about here committing to, like, yes.
2:33:37
We can now rechange the way resources.
Crystal Hudson
2:33:40
Yeah.
2:33:40
And I don't need that.
2:33:41
He he said that it would be great to have that as a resource.
2:33:44
That's all I need.
Josh Levin
2:33:45
I see.
Crystal Hudson
2:33:48
When officers take reports about older adults falling victim to scams, do they have information on available resources and alternative places to report like the National Elder Fraud hotline or FTC that they can make available to older adults?
2:34:02
Do you connect them to federal's resources, state resources, things like that?
Josh Levin
2:34:06
Yeah.
2:34:06
In the in the recruit training materials.
2:34:08
I was so listen.
2:34:09
If it's something that implicates, like, inner inner state, now you're in Fedland.
2:34:14
And so we teach them in the materials that depending on what you're hearing to connect them with the FBI, who has jurisdiction over those type of things.
Crystal Hudson
2:34:23
And then beyond your work with the NYC Aging and the Cabinet, do you work with other city agencies like adult protective services or or or or or anybody else to address elder fraud effectively, even like do it or any other city agencies?
Josh Levin
2:34:41
I'm not sure.
2:34:43
I can find out.
2:34:43
Okay.
2:34:44
I suspect our materials, I'm not a 100% sure, but I suspect our training materials are built off of conversations with other agencies.
2:34:51
But I will double check that for your chair and circle back.
2:34:53
Okay?
Crystal Hudson
2:34:54
Okay.
