Assistant Chief Jason Savino explains how the NYPD prioritizes elder fraud cases and utilizes specialized teams to handle these complex investigations.
- NYPD has specialized squads that exclusively work on elder fraud cases, with over 100 investigators dedicated to this area
- These specialized teams handle more complex cases and work on identifying patterns
- The investigators are described as compassionate and treat elderly victims with particular care
- The success of cases often depends on victims staying engaged throughout the investigation and prosecution process

Well, we do prioritize it, and and this is how we have specialized teams.
2:24:02
Where even outside of the priests and squads, we've been hearing all day about the priests and squads that are embedded in in the priests themselves.
2:24:10
We have specialist squads that exclusively work on cases just like this.
2:24:16
And it's upwards of a 100 investigators.
2:24:19
And these are the individuals that take the patterns.
2:24:21
They take the more complex cases.
2:24:24
And that's primarily why you see in the success.
2:24:27
You know, these are the individuals that consider the elderly community, the wisdom of our community.
2:24:33
And they are the most compassionate individuals.
2:24:35
They they they treat individuals exactly the way they need to be treated, and they come back, you know, where individuals feel compelled to stay with the cases because that's when we have success.
2:24:48
Right?
2:24:49
When people stay with the cases, see it all the way through through the prosecution, and we work straight through when these specialized teams are really where where we have our most success.
