NYC Aging has established partnerships with various city agencies and organizations to enhance its efforts in combating elder fraud and providing support to older adults. These collaborations aim to create a comprehensive support network.
- Partnership with the Department of Consumer Affairs and Worker Protection to educate older adults about common scams
- Distribution of informational flyers about holiday scams to older adult programs
- Regular meetings with district attorney offices to discuss cases and recent crime trends
- Collaboration with multiple agencies and providers as part of the community care plan

With our joint work with other agencies goes beyond the NYPD, and in the past years, we have worked with the city department of consumer affairs, and worker protection to help educate older adults about common scams often seen around the holiday.

A copy of the flyer, which has been distributed to programs last year, is included as an exhibit in my testimony.

We worked to connect the office of the Department of Consumer And Worker Protection to older adult centers throughout the year so that they can give presentations on on common scans and also help people avoid becoming a victim.

This partnership reinforces education around scams and elder abuse and helps the older adult learn that they should look out for when something feels like it's not too good to be true.

Finally, NYC Aging's Office of Elder Abuse, where the Resource Center is housed regularly meets with district attorney offices in New York City to discuss cases when referred as part of the MOU and collaborative of the recent crime trends.
