They're an estimated over 28,000 people with court appointed guardianships statewide with over 60% of those here in New York City.

However, one of the major issues in our guardianship system is the lack of reliable and publicly available data.

So it's hard to know how many exactly how many people petitions are being made for on any given day in sort of the size of the problem in terms of the judge's inability to find good guardians to to serve.
