Crime Prevention Officers (CPOs) play a crucial role in the NYPD's efforts to prevent elder fraud through community outreach and education. These officers are embedded in each precinct and police service area to provide direct support to the community.
- CPOs conduct regular safety presentations for older individuals, with over 27,100 presentations completed to date
- Officers proactively reach out to the community, conducting sessions at various locations including adult centers, libraries, and houses of worship
- Presentations typically last 30-60 minutes and include printed materials, videos, and PowerPoint presentations on common scams
