Council Member Feliz asks about the impact of Avenue NYC and Neighborhood 360 programs on public spaces. Calvin Brown from SBS provides examples of how these programs have helped revitalize communities and support small businesses.
- The programs help organizations look at public spaces through a different lens and connect them with relevant agencies like DOT
- In Flushing, a program was created to recognize businesses based on customer receipts
- In Flatbush, a passport book was created to highlight local businesses, such as where to find the best roti
- These initiatives directly impact small businesses by increasing visibility and foot traffic in commercial corridors

Okay.
0:49:45
And I guess connecting that program to product spaces.

but but but what I would say is that what we strive to do through these grant programs is helping these organizations to look at these spaces through a different lens.
0:50:21
Right?
0:50:22
Once again, helping to connect them to the other agencies that they have intersection with whether it's DOT.
0:50:28
So that is shown during the program and So, like, some of the examples when we talked about flushing and then creating a a program to help, like it's almost like a a grant program not a grant program.
0:50:42
I'm sorry.
0:50:43
A program where businesses were recognized where if you took a copy of your receipt, of it showed how many people were going to these various businesses.
0:50:52
And one of our grandson, Flatbush, they created a passport book with outlined all of the businesses that are in that district so that if you wanted to know where you can get the best Rody, you know where to go.
0:51:03
So these are things that help these businesses directly.
0:51:06
So those are what we feel are success stories when these organizations are coming up with programming that directly impacts the small businesses that are within those commercial corridors.
