Pest control response times and complaint reduction

NYCHA has made significant improvements in pest control response times and has seen a reduction in pest-related complaints across its properties. The agency has implemented new procedures and techniques to address various pest issues.
- NYCHA now responds to rat complaints within 2.3 days on average, and other pest types within 7.5 days
- Rat complaints decreased from 25,096 in 2022 to 13,730 so far in 2024
- Other pest type complaints reduced from over 33,000 in 2022 to 21,107 so far in 2024
- The agency has improved its use of integrated pest management techniques

When we deliver new elevators, we're also replacing the outdated equipment in the motor room and installing remote monitoring, helping ensure we will be able to improve our management of these elevators in the future.

Slide 16, the next slide is a snapshot of one of the reports we have built report on our progress, meeting the pest related obligations in the agreement.

Here, we are obligated to respond to complaints from residents related to public health pest types, including rats, cockroaches, mice, and bed bugs on very prescribed timelines.

As you can see, we really struggled with the time based requirements in 2022 and portions of 2023, but have seen dramatic improvement in the last 18 months.
