The civil surveys services pathways fellows are placed in 1 of 6 career tracks.
1:07:01
Policy and program analysis, procurement and finance, information technology, and data analysis, creative services and digital media.
1:07:10
Project management and architecture and engineering.
1:07:13
What criteria does the agency use to define and select these specific tracks?
Katrina Porter
1:07:24
So the way the program works, council member, is that the we we advertise the program.
1:07:31
Mhmm.
1:07:32
The students, they submit their applications.
1:07:34
We do a thorough review of the of the application to determine which track they would be most qualified for.
1:07:42
And then it's a matching process that happens.
1:07:45
There's a a group interview at the first level.
1:07:48
The second level is an individual interview, and then the agencies and the the participants, they have an opportunity to pick, you know, which jobs they are most interested in.
1:08:00
Mhmm.
1:08:01
And then, you know, that matching process happens, and then, you know, the candidate goes through, you know, onboarding, and they actually start at the agency.
Carmen De La Rosa
1:08:08
Great.
1:08:08
Thank you for walking us through that.
1:08:09
My question was more aligned towards the agency and the decisions that is made regarding which career tracks.
1:08:16
So are there any plans to increase the number of participating agencies or introduce new career tracks?
1:08:21
Like, how is the agency deciding that these sort of buckets of careers are the ones that are necessary or most popular.
1:08:29
Like, what is the criteria?
Katrina Porter
1:08:30
Thank you for that.
1:08:31
So we determine what tracks to include in this program based on data and feedback from agencies.
1:08:39
As to skill sets that may be, you know, limited at their agency or where they may have found it to be hard to recruit top talent.
1:08:48
We then had to put together proposal for the state civil service commission, and then they provided us with authorization to include at least the new the 3 new additional tracks that we that we added, which is architecture engineering, project management, and then expanding the information technology track.
1:09:08
And it's really just based on feedback from agencies and and data that we have access to.
Carmen De La Rosa
1:09:13
And how long does that approval from the state take?
Katrina Porter
1:09:16
It's how long does it take?
1:09:18
It takes a while.
1:09:19
It does take a while.
Carmen De La Rosa
1:09:20
5 months,
Katrina Porter
1:09:21
9 9 months to a year sometimes.
Carmen De La Rosa
1:09:24
Okay?
1:09:24
So that's another area where we can we know a few people and nobody.
1:09:27
Right?
1:09:28
We can we can talk to our state colleagues about that.
1:09:30
I know.
1:09:31
I traded my commute.
1:09:33
Okay.
1:09:34
Could you please elaborate on the partnerships that you have with the MTA and what the programs look like?
