Chief Fields explains the continued use and strategic deployment of EMS ASAP vehicles in dense urban areas that are challenging for traditional ambulances to navigate quickly.
- EMS ASAP vehicles are smaller and more maneuverable than traditional ambulances
- They are staffed with EMTs and deployed in crowded, high-call-volume locations
- ASAP units can provide emergency care quickly in areas where larger ambulances take longer to arrive
- Successfully deployed in locations like Times Square and at beaches during summer months
- This initiative aims to provide faster initial care in challenging urban environments
