Council Member Rita Joseph inquires about specific communities or schools where subway surfing incidents are more prevalent. Officials discuss their observations and data:
- Subway lines, rather than specific communities, are identified as the main factor in prevalence
- The 7 line and J line (over the Williamsburg Bridge) are highlighted as popular for subway surfing due to being elevated and offering scenic backgrounds
- Schools along the 7 subway line are noted as having a higher prevalence of students involved in subway surfing
- Officials track schools where subway surfers come from to target education efforts
- It's noted that subway surfers may come from different boroughs or even other cities for the New York City backdrop
- The draw is often the specific subway line rather than the surfers' place of residence

Are there specific communities or schools that where subway surfing incidents are more prevalent?
1:44:47
If so, where and how are resources allocated to target those specific areas?
Mark Rampersant
1:44:52
So specifically around subway surfing, I'll be honest with you.
1:44:55
I couldn't answer the question as to where it's where it's, generally focused.
1:44:59
I know that we get these reports, some of which we get directly, some where we have formulated a new relationship to ensure that we get that on a regular basis.
1:45:08
As that as that relationship forms and we are getting more information about these cases, I can better answer the question of where we're seeing this most prevalent, and then I can get back to your office.

1:45:19
So just just on that, you you we could talk about subway lines.
1:45:23
We spoke about that 7 line.
1:45:26
You know, think elevated for obvious reasons.
1:45:30
7 line, that j line going over to Williamsburg Bridge, I'm I'm I'm thinking about for the, for the scenic background.
1:45:38
And that's the draw, the line in my opinion, the line is the draw.
1:45:46
Where they're coming from is not necessarily, right there.
1:45:50
In other words, they don't have to live adjacent to the 7 line.
1:45:53
They could be coming from, you know, different boroughs.
1:45:56
You know, I I've heard people, this is not only a New York City issue.
1:46:02
You know, this issue is going on in other, cities.
1:46:05
And, there there are kids from other cities coming to New York for the New York City, backdrop.
1:46:11
So I hope I answer you know, I hope that question's clear.
