Chair Menin requests that the four agencies present develop and submit a detailed plan within two weeks on how they could implement a streamlined approach to addressing deed theft.
- The plan should be submitted to both chairs within two weeks
- It should detail how the agencies could implement a streamlined system for reporting and addressing deed theft
- Chair Menin notes that having four different agencies addressing the issue is confusing for New Yorkers
- She suggests that the plan could fit well with the city's existing efforts to streamline services through the NYC Portal
- The chair references a previous council bill that created a one-stop shop for small business permitting as an example of successful streamlining

I I just wanna second what council member Osei said about streamlining it, and so I'm gonna make a request that within 2 weeks, these 4 agencies get back to us with a detailed plan about how they could implement that.

Because we've got when we have 4 different agencies that are addressing this issue, again, it's very confusing for New Yorkers as to who they're supposed to contact, what they're supposed to do.

So I think it's an excellent idea and so to be clear, I want a letter to both chairs within 2 weeks that detail how you could implement a plan like this to streamline it.
1:08:31
And I think it fits in very well with what the city's doing within my city portal where they're already doing all sorts of streamlining.

Like, last year, the council passed build mind to do a one stop shop.
1:08:42
We're all permitting for small businesses up there.
1:08:44
We you can do the same thing here.

With the drop down menu, documents can be uploaded, and it would, again, allow New Yorkers to have a very easy one stop shop portal to address this issue.
