Council Member Pierina Sanchez inquires about the difference in plastic piping allowances between ADUs and standard one or two-family homes in New York City. Constadino Sirakis, Deputy Commissioner of the NYC Department of Buildings, provides a response.
- Sirakis believes the plastic piping allowance for ADUs differs from what's allowed in the New York City plumbing code for standard residential buildings
- The ADU allowance would match what's permitted for modular one or two-family homes built under the New York State plumbing code and placed on a foundation in the city
- Sirakis indicates he would need to verify the exact differences with the New York City plumbing code

And so is is this, allowance for plastic piping different than what is allowed in inside of a 1 or 2 family home today in New York City?
Constadino (Gus) Sirakis

I would have to check, but I believe this is this is different than what's allowed in the New York City plumbing code.

But it would match what's allowed for a modular 1 or 2 family home home built under the New York State plumbing code and, placed on a foundation here in the city.

So moving to the the number of ADUs allowed, this is a potential inconsistency that that we found in the in the legislation, so wanted to ask about it.
