Council Member Pierina Sanchez inquires about the city's ability to track rent levels in ADUs and converted basement units. Deputy Commissioner Kim Darga explains the tracking capabilities for different scenarios.
- For ADUs created through standard processes, the city would not have access to rent level information.
- For units created through HPD's financing program, rent levels would be tracked and accessible.
- Owners participating in the financing program have options regarding rent restrictions, which affects the city's ability to monitor rents.

an owner that is just participating, like, you know, creating an ADU, they're going to DOB, they're applying for the temporary status program, or creating a new ADU otherwise, that's something that we would not have access to.
1:10:46
For owners that are participating in our financing program, that is absolutely something that we will, not only track but have access to information for.
1:10:57
And as I mentioned earlier, the program today offers, owners a choice to either agree to a restriction on the unit or not.

And depending on whether, that makes sense for them financially and based on the financial assistance that we're offering, We are working with our program partner to help the owner with lease up of that unit, so we will absolutely know the rent charged.
