Molly Schaeffer announces two new operational changes to address concerns raised by the council, advocates, and people in their care.
- Introduction of a central mail room to serve all non-DHS clients, addressing issues of missing important mail due to shelter movements
- Accommodation for families with children in kindergarten through 6th grade, allowing them to stay in the same shelter upon requesting a second 60-day notice
- This change aims to provide stability for children's education and save costs on student busing

We will be opening a central mail room to serve all of our non DHS clients.

We will work with you to help spread the word to clients to ensure they pick up their mail.

Additionally, in the event families with children enrolled in kindergarten through 6th grade request a second 60 day notice.

They can stay in the same shelter they were previously assigned to if they still need more time in the system, making it easier for those children to continue attending their same schools and saving the city 100 of 1,000 spent on busing those students to those schools.
